From the beginning, the name was just Safari, but something was missing and in 2010 I found it. A northern safari is exactly what I experience my life as.

I was born in 1985, they decided to call me AnnaSara. It was music all around. Eventually, I learned to play cello and piano, but notes was just not for me. I pretended to read them but played out of my memorie. It worked for a while. I've never had the patience to become really good at an instrument. I feel done when I've figured out how it works. I left the cello behind and started playing guitar around 2003. I stopped keeping a diary, and began writing songs instead.

It didn't sound great, but I liked it. I started using the song writing as a way of dealing with my depression. I still do in some ways. It's important to me, and that's hard to hide. Maybe that's one of the reasons that I´ve been avoiding the stage for so many years. I've always had great friends and family. They supported me from the beginning and gave me the strength to keep working with my music. Slowly, this "thing" has become my dream.

I have struggled with stage fright during the whole time, and still do. I stopped playing live for a while and felt that the only way to do something about it was to find me a band. I did, in March 2011. My cousin Niklas Dahrén helped me out with two songs on my first EP (Surface for you, released in July 2011) and he found the exact touch I've been looking for. I had a bassist! So Niklas, Hasse Andersson, Niklas Bertilsson and Emma Dahrén has been on stage with me for about a year now (April 2012). I've made a couple of solo performances this spring and it feels different now. Summer 2012 will be something else. I say no more. Keep your eyes open!

Northern Safari will hopefully bring you a full album 2012, in collaboration with Humla Kulturförening. And I (AnnaSara) will also release a swedish album this fall!
